To create a permanent memorial honoring the military men and women from Meredith who served during the nation’s armed conflicts.

Our Mission

In 2021 a committee formed under the auspices of Humble Grunt Work to fund, design and build a new memorial to the veterans from Meredith who served during our Nation’s wars, from the Revolutionary War to the current Global War on Terror. The voters approved a warrant article in 2022 to provide $250,000 towards the project and the committee raised additional funds, making the project possible. The memorial was designed by Norman Larson of Chris Williams Architects and was built of granite and bronze.

The Memorial was completed in 2023 and dedicated on Veterans Day, 2023. We thank everyone who donated to the project, provided historical information, nominated veterans for inclusion, or otherwise supported the project. And we thank all veterans for their selfless contribution to our Nation.

The Memorial was designed to allow additional names to be added. Recent research allowed the committee to add names onto the World War I and II plaques that had not been on the original memorials and we continue to seek other names from the Vietnam War that may not have been reported previously. In addition, The Global War on Terror is still listed by the Pentagon as an ongoing conflict, meaning any current service member is eligible to be included on the Memorial. Please see the tab “Nominate a Veteran” for the information to get your veteran listed.
